Time on my hands

Have you ever seen that TV commercial where the mom is pulling "minutes" out of the trash because her children have thrown away...........simply because they are "old" minutes. The kids explain that they would rather use "new" minutes. That seems like an incredibly profound statement to me.....

Wouldn't it be wonderfuul to have extra minutes of any shape or size..........old ones, new ones, red ones, blue ones - it wouldn't matter a bit. Just to be able to snatch a little extra "time" when you need them the most. How wonderful that would be. And what about times when you are involved in something you really don't want to be doing...........how would it be to simply pinch off a couple of minutes and lay them over on the shelf to use later. Strange thoughts for the day........

Monday - back to work.

I should have known better than to try to make plans for the weekend.
Do you know what the worst thing in the world is for anyone who still sleeps on a "water bed" ? Yep - waking up with wet feet. What a lovely way to start the day at 5:15 am on Sunday. HAHA - I only thought I was going to sleep in late.

Row, Row, Row your boat - gently up the stream.......
Somehow - things just did not work out the way I thought they would. On the positive side of the weekend - I did get a lot of good excercise. Hauling the garden hose in and out - wrestling with the old bladder and then shopping in a hurry to get a new one in place so I would have somewhere to sleep Sunday night. 300 gallons of water out and then 300 gallons of water in....

Some days are diamonds.......

Have you ever had one of those weeks???
Its Friday and I feel that I have earned the coming weekend. I will start if off by going to an Estate Sale after work. I never know what kind of "treasure" I might find.

Saturday, I plan to sleep in late - watch a little TV - drink a little wine - and sew to my hearts content!
I have a zuchini from the garden that needs to get cooked up into a zuchini bread.

Sunday will be the usual trip to WalMart, laundry, housework and hopefully a hug or 3 from grandkids.
Then back to work on Monday.

Time Warp

Time flies whether I'm having fun or not.

Working in a busy Tax Office leaves little time for much else from January till now.

I almost forgot that I even started this blog site. Ahhhh well - no harm done!!

Suddenly it's june in Texas and the temperatures hover near 100 degrees almost everyday.

I did manage to put in a small garden and things are trying to produce despite the heat and lack of rain. In the mean time the bluejays are enjoying the tomatoes more than I am.

I purchases a couple of rubber toy snakes and placed near the tomatoe plants but they are having no effect at all. Maybe a scare crow is in order.

Okra, cucumbers and zuchini squash are coming along nicely.

Most of my craft projects have been put on hold until recently.

There will be a new grandson in our lives in August so I am working on a baby quilt as well as crocheting one. Mostly I work on them in the evenings while watching TV.
This is going to be my next project this summer.
I hope to find a solar powered pump so I won't have to connect electricity.
I can't wait to see what the grandkids do when they see this out in the back yard.
Wish me luck - the more I look at this - the more it looks like a whole lot of work.
More Later.....

Best time of the year.

I truely believe that this is the best time of the whole year. Time has changed and the days are shorter. Temperatures have finally dropped and we can enjoy the great outdoors.

I love sleeping with the windows open. Even though we live near the railroad tracks and the train whistles do have a way of ruining a good nights sleep - usually at 2:00 AM or so.

I am working on 3 different craft projects at the same time. One is sewing - one is crochet and one is knitting. All three are for Christmas gifts and if time permits, I have plans to do several more.

There just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to do all I want to do. Working a full time job really gets in the way of my "play time." If it weren't for the paycheck - I would never show up for work. I work in an accounting office and generate payroll checks all week long. Seems that I get to be everybodies "favorite person" - at least on payday ! I leave work most days with a sense of accomplishment eventhough I will be doing the very same thing over again, next week.

The picture above is just one I found on line. I wish I lived near somewhere that looked like that. This part of Texas has very little to offer in the way of landscape beauty. Its just flat and dry here. I wonder some times how on earth I ended up here - after growing up in Colorado. I could have easily moved back up north after my divorce - but by that time my kids and grandkids were all here. Guess I couldn't leave my comfort zone.

Friday Afternoon - TGIF

There they are - these are 2 more of my four legged friends.
Chester and Gizzy - Mother (white) and son (brown) actually.
Gizzy was a "rescue" puppy and delivered 3 babies just shortly after we got her. Chester was the runt of the litter and was just too darned cute to send away.

Just a bunch of spoiled rotten kids if you ask me !!

I was always a "cat-person". Can somebody please explain to me how I have ended up with 4 dogs??

Hello and welcome to my first attempt to "Blog".
They say that if you are lucky you will have the chance to learn someting new every day of
your life. But I am finding that the trick is remembering what it is you have learned and where the heck did you put it. Being in my 50's is not nearly at terrible as I always thought it would be. To be honest, I am having a "blast".
Living in North Texas, for the past 15 years, I guess I have dug in for the long haul. I have 4 great grown up kids and 5 amazing grandchildren. Everything you have ever heard about being a grand-parent is true. Nothing but "KIX & CHERRIOS".
I am having a mad passionate love affair with a fella that just happens to be my husband of 3 years. Shhhhh - don't tell anybody !!
It took me forever to find him......seems like a lifetime. I know you've all heard that old line about soul mates and such - so I won't describe it that way. Lets just say that we're really good for each other and leave it at that.
